Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 16) – Following its win at Washington & Jefferson on Monday, the Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team had a chance to string together back-to-back victories for the second time this season when Thiel came to town on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets (3-7) struggled early in the game and couldn't overcome a potent Thiel College offense in a 22-3 loss.
The Tomcats (8-7) opened the scoring with eight consecutive goals in the first 15:20 of the game. Senior
Toria Shepherd got the Jackets on the board with 14:31 remaining in the firsthalf, and freshman
Jess Rains scored her team's second goal with 9:13 remaining in the opening period.
After the goal by Rains, the Tomcats rattled off 12 consecutive goals before Shepherd scored again late in the second half. That score ran her season total to 27, which is four tallies short of breaking Waynesburg's single-season goals mark held by current head coach
Maria Shepas.
