GREENVILLE, PA. (April 16) – The Waynesburg University men's track & field team traveled north on Saturday to compete in the Thiel College Tomcat Invitational. There was no team scoring at the event.
The Yellow Jackets were led in the track events by sophomore
Cole Thiec (Stoneborough, Pa. / Lakeview), who took third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.82.
Moving to the field events, freshman
Isaac Huey (Klymer, Pa. / Purchase Line) paced Waynesburg in the javelin with a top throw of 49.99 meters (164-0). Sophomore
Aidan Sheely (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) took third in the shot put after a toss of 12.94 meters (42-5.5), while freshman
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) took fifth with a heave of 12.59 meters (41-3.75).
Hillard also placed in the top half of the discus after posting the 11
th-place mark of 29.58 meters (97-0).
Waynesburg's top effort in the jumps was produced by junior
Andrew Kemerer (Herminie, Pa. / Yough). Kemerer took fourth in the triple jump with a hop, skip and a jump of 11.88 meters (39-0).
The Jackets are scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday, April 20, when they compete in Bethany's John Falconi Invitational.
