SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (April 2) – The Waynesburg University men's track & field team hit the road on Saturday to compete in the Dave Labor Invitational, which was hosted by Slippery Rock University. There was no team scoring at the event.
Waynesburg was led on the track by sophomore
Kai Herbert (Baltimore, Md. / Mt. St. Joseph), who placed eighth out of 24 runners in the 110-meter hurdles. He crossed the finish line in 16.56 seconds. He also competed as a member of the Yellow Jackets' 4x100-meter relay team and was a part of the 26-man high jump.
The Jackets also posted a pair of top-six times in the 17-runner mixed 10,000-meter run. Freshman
Luke Whisel (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) took second with a time of 36:08.17. Freshman
Bryce Ronk (Rockford, Mich. / Rockford) posted the number-six mark of 38:08.01.
Waynesburg's top field performances came in the javelin, where it turned in a pair of top-15 efforts. Senior
Jerry Farrelli (Monongahela, Pa. / Ringgold) launched a team-best toss of 46.08 meters (151-2.17), which placed him 11
th out of 45 competitors. Freshman
Isaac Huey (Klymer, Pa. / Purchase Line) took 14
th in the event thanks to a throw of 44.09 meters (144-7.83).
The Jackets are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, April 9, when they compete in the Westminster Invitational.
