WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 23) – The Waynesburg University track & field team will be hosting a series of six one-day camps that focus on a myriad of skills crucial to success in a wide variety of events. The sessions, which run from June 22 to July 13, will be run by Waynesburg Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Christ Hardie and members of his staff.
Each camp is open to high school athletes and coaches. Prior to the conclusion of each session, the Waynesburg coaching staff will provide informative tips concerning strength training, diet and hydration. Optional campus tours will also be available at the conclusion of each camp.

Below is a brief description of the different camps:
June 22 Sprints – Including Block Mechanics
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Waynesburg Central High School Track (30 Zimmerman Drive, Waynesburg PA 15370)
Instructor: Assistant Track Coach

Coach Lubich has a broad resume of work as a sprints and hurdles coach, both at the high school and college levels. Participants will walk through a dynamic warmup, hip mobility exercises and learn the mechanics of a proper block start. Coach Lubich will also introduce attendees to drills and exercises for sprinting and provide video analysis.
June 23 Hurdles – Including Block Mechanics
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Waynesburg Central High School Track

Participants will walk through a dynamic warmup, hip mobility exercises and learn the mechanics of a proper block start. Coach Lubich will also introduce attendees to drills and exercises for hurdling and provide video analysis.
June 27 Javelin, Shotput and Discus Drills and Technique

Coach Hardie is entering his 19
th season at Waynesburg University. The first eight years at Waynesburg, Hardie directed the Jacket throwers and has an impressive resume of NCAA national qualifiers and All-Americans. Participants will walk through a dynamic warmup, med ball exercises and learn drills and exercises that can be utilized in all three throwing events.
June 28 High Jump
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Coach Lubich has been working with high jumpers as an instructor and coach for over 20 years. Participants will learn techniques to develop a consistent high jump approach, take off and flight. Coach Lubich will also introduce attendees to drills and exercises that will help in their development as a high jumper and provide video analysis.
July 11 Distance Running – Emphasis on 3,200-Meter / 5K Training
10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Laurel Rush
Coach Hardie is a seven-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year and has led the Yellow Jacket women to six conference titles.
Laurel Rush is entering her 15
th season as the distance coach at Waynesburg and has had success at the conference and national level. She has coached dozens of conference champions and five NCAA qualifiers. Participants will go through a typical practice at Waynesburg with a warmup, dynamic warmup, event-specific pacing workouts and a cooldown. Hardie and Rush will also discuss race strategy, practice strategy, pacing and race preparation. *Racing spikes will not be needed.
July 13 Distance Running – Emphasis on 400/800/Mile
10 a.m. – 11:30am
