MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 19) – The Waynesburg University outdoor track & field teams sent a select group to the Mountaineer Twilight on Saturday. The Jackets notched six top-three showings in a field of primarily NCAA Division II competition.
John Stewart (Lancaster, Pa. / JP McCaskey) took home the meet title in the men's discus with a top throw of 44.56 meters, the second-farthest mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this season.
Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) was the meet runner-up in the women's javelin. Her toss of 33.93 meters was the top result from an NCAA Division III student-athlete in the meet.
Ty Williams (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) raced to a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 15.57.
Kai Herbert (Baltimore, Md. / Mt. St. Joseph) followed in fourth in 15.96.
Isaiah Mathews (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Montour) was second in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.03. Mathews added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.73.
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) ran to a sixth-place showing in the 400 in 51.86.
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) placed third in the hammer throw at 31.66 meters.
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) was sixth in the shot put (13.41) with Stewart following in eighth (12.16 meters).
Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) finished eighth in the women's discus at 29.97 meters.
Herbert was seventh in the high jump (1.75 meters) and
Andrew Kemerer (Herminie, Pa. / Yough) placed 10th in the long jump (5.37 meters).
Waynesburg returns to Morgantown for the PAC Championships next week.
