ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. (September 3) – The Waynesburg University women's golf team began its 2024-25 season at the Geneva Fall Opener at the Connoquenessing Country Club on Tuesday.
The Jackets finished second of two teams at the invitational-style event. Host Geneva won the event with a team score of 389 on the par-71 course. Geneva's Madison Sharek took medalist honors with 88 strokes. Waynesburg's four players totaled 540 strokes on the day.
Maeve Hanley (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) led the Jackets and notched a fifth-place finish in the 10-golfer field at 119 strokes.
Freshman
Julia Clement (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) tied for seventh at 129 strokes.
Abigail Noble (West Alexander, Pa. / McGuffey) followed in ninth at 135 strokes and
Sara Otto (Frostburg, Md. / Mountain Ridge) placed 10th with 157 strokes.
The Jackets return to action next week at Bethany's Bison Fall Invite.
