DELAWARE, Ohio (February 14) – The Waynesburg University indoor track & field teams had a successful Friday evening at the Ohio Wesleyan Open. The Yellow Jackets took home the men's team title at OWU. Elsewhere in Ohio, graduate
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) had a standout showing as an individual at Youngstown State's Last Chance.
Weaver was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 800 and the mile at YSU. He ran 4:25.38 to finish third in the mile with the second-fastest time in team history. His 800 time of 2:00.14 was fifth in team history and ninth at YSU.
The Jackets racked up 100 points to finish first in the five-team men's standings. Despite only sending four women, Waynesburg still recorded a fourth-place finish of six teams with 15 points.
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) headlined the Waynesburg group at OWU. He claimed meet titles in the shot put and the weight throw with the No. 2 effort in team history in both events. Harker topped the shot put field with a 14.57-meter heave. His winning weight throw was a personal record of 14.14 meters.
Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) and
Noah Jones (Rockville, Md. / Sandy Spring Friends) finished first and second in the 400. Williams took the meet crown in 54.20 and Jones followed in 54.38.
Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) was the runner-up in the in 2:07.88.
Michael Wines (Hamlin, W.Va. / Nitro) finished third in the 200 (24.69) and set a PR in the 60 prelims (7.30) before finishing fourth in the final.
Ethan Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Redeemer Lutheran) and
Aidan McGee (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) ran a mile-3k double. Wilson was second in the mile (4:50.96) and third in the 3k (9:57.88) while McGee placed fourth in the mile (5:09.00) and 4th in the 3k (10:03.72).
Adam Helbling (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette) took second in the triple jump (11.64 meters0 and long jump (6.13 meters).
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) was the runner-up to Harker in the weight throw at 13.25 meters.
On the women's side,
Chloe Fields (Linesville, Pa. / Conneaut) set personal records in the 800 (2:37.69) and the mile (5:49.13). She finished second in the mile and sixth in the 800.
Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) scored in the shot put (6th, 9.59 meters) and
Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) was eighth in the weight throw at 10.71 meters.
The Jackets return to action at the PAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 27 at Youngstown State.
