YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (February 27) –
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) broke a pair of school records and claimed the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) shot put crown at the PAC Indoor Championships at the Youngstown State University's Watson and Tressel Training Site on Thursday.
The Yellow Jackets notched four top-four finishers as Waynesburg tied for seventh with Saint Vincent in the 11-team championship field with a team score of 36. Grove City took home the team title with 137 points.
Harker shattered his own school record by over half a meter in the shot put with a PAC title-winning heave of 15.17 meters. His effort ranks second in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the 2024-25 season. Harker also surpassed Blake Feldner's 2019 weight throw record with a distance of 14.40 meters, good for third overall.
Garrett Hillard (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) also scored in the weight throw with a mark of 13.41 meters, the No. 9 weight throw in team history. Hillard also reached the finals in the shot put and placed ninth at 12.48 meters.
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) ran to a runner-up finish in the 800. His time of 1:54.71 ranks second in program history and sixth in the region.
Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) finished 10th in the 400 with a personal record time of 52.84, the No. 5 time in team history.
Adam Helbling (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette) finished 10th in the long jump at 5.99 meters.
Waynesburg's 4x400 relay unit of Williams,
Noah Jones (Rockville, Md. / Sandy Spring Friends),
Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) and Weaver raced to a third-place finish in 3:30.80. The effort was the second-fastest event time in team history, approaching the program's 2013 record of 3:29.29.
The Jackets picked up two points with a seventh-place showing in the distance medley relay.
Ethan Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Redeemer Lutheran),
Aaron Sanders (Peters Township, Pa. / Peters Township),
Nicky Todd (Homer City, Pa. / Homer Central) and
Aidan McGee (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) crossed the finish line in 11:48.25.
The Jackets are back in action at Ohio Northern's final qualifier on March 8.
