WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. (March 29) – The Waynesburg University outdoor track & field teams competed at West Liberty's Tim Weaver Invitational on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets set one program record and notched numerous notable results.
The meet featured 20 other teams in the region, primarily from NCAA Division II and III.
Ella Rishell (Montgomery County, Md. / Watkins Mill) set Waynesburg's outdoor track & field record in the 400 in 1:00.75. She finished sixth in a 26-woman field and placed as the top Division III competitor. She was seventh in the triple jump (10.30 meters), ninth in the 200 (26.96) and 11th in the long jump (4.71 meters).
Natalie Double (Portersville, Pa. / Slippery Rock) took third in the javelin with a distance of 34.95 meters.
Megan Barry (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) was 10th at 25.64 meters.
Grace Tanksley (Bedford, Ind. / Bedford North Lawrence) finished third in the women's 5k in 19:59.42 and
Erin DeLong (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) followed in eighth with a personal record time of 20:48.93.
Aidan McGee (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) notched a PR in the men's 5k in 17:31.35.
Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa / Bishop Carroll) recorded the No. 5 outdoor shot put in team history with a mark of 14.25 meters, good for sixth at the event.
Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.23.
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa. / Union) was seventh of 49 competitors in the 800 in 1:59.87. Both Casella and Weaver were the top DIII finishers in their respective events.
Reagan Pettis (West Springfield, Pa. / Northwestern) was seventh in the 3k steeplechase in 13:14.96.
Rylie Baker (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) posted the No. 2 hammer throw in Waynesburg history for the second-straight week with a personal record of 32.95 meters.
Maggie Clair (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon McMillan) was 10th in the shot put at 10.90 meters.
Noah Jones (Rockville, Md. / Sandy Spring Friends) notched two personal records and conference top-five marks in the 400 (53.53) and long jump (6.05 meters).
John Stewart (Lancaster, Pa. / JP McCaskey) was 12th in the discus at 39.64 meters.
Waynesburg's men's 4x400 relay grouping of Casella, Jones, Weaver and
Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) posted a time of 3:29.36, the ninth-fastest time in program history.
The Jackets return to action next Saturday at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational.
