WAYNESBURG, Pa. (June 12) – Waynesburg University golfers Matt Karpeal (Smithfield, Pa. / Albert Gallatin) and Maeve Hanley (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) were recognized for their combined success in the classroom and on the course with selections to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team.

Karpeal, a rising senior computer science major with a 3.60 GPA, led the Yellow Jackets in scoring average and recorded four all-tournament finishes during the 2024-25 campaign. His season was highlighted by a second-place individual showing as he helped Waynesburg capture the team title at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by Kent State Tuscarawas.

Hanley, a rising senior nursing major with a 3.57 GPA, was the Jackets' top finisher at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships and carded a team season-low round of 97 against Wheeling.

Karpeal is the second men's golfer in program history to receive CSC Academic All-District honors, while Hanley is the first women's golfer to earn the distinction at Waynesburg.
