Jacket men place fifth at Muskie Meet #2

Wilson's win in the 1,000 meters highlights Waynesburg's day in Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Jan. 24) – The Waynesburg University men's track & field team competed for the first time in 2026 when it traveled to Muskingum University's Muskie Meet #2 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets finished fifth out of 11 teams in the field with 61.5 points.
 
Waynesburg was led by sophomore Ethan Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Redeemer Lutheran), who won the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:48.44. He added a seventh-place showing in the mile run (4:42.02).
 
Other points scorers in the track events included sophomore Michael Wines (Hamlin, W.Va. / Nitro), who tied first sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.36 seconds. His qualifying time was even quicker (7.30 seconds).
 
Senior Dagyn Williams (Leslie, Ark. / Marshall) posted the number-eight mark in the 400 meters (53.64 seconds), while junior Kyle Casella (Clarksboro, N.J. / Kingsway) posted the number-three time of 1:10.45 in the 500 meters.
 
Williams and Casella joined junior Noah Jones (Rockville, Md. / Sandy Spring Friends) and freshman Jackson Sauders to put together the number-three mark in the 4x400-meter relay (3:42.11).
 
Moving to the field events, Wines and Jones placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the long jump with marks of 6.21 meters (20-4.5) and 6.20 meters (20-4.25). Freshman Marcus Crum Jr. (Warren, Ohio / Warren G. Harding) contributed to the team score with the seventh-place leap of 6.09 meters (19-11.75).
 
Senior Isaac Trout (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Southmoreland) took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.21 meters (40-0.75).
 
Moving to the throws, junior Jacob Harker (Lilly, Pa. / Bishop Carroll) finished third in the shot put with a heave of 14.40 meters (47-3). He added the eighth-place toss in the weight throw, which sailed 12.37 meters (40-7).
 
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it takes part in the Youngstown State Mid Major Invitational presented by Southwoods Health.
